Employment services are available to unemployed and underemployed people who are eligible to work in Canada.
Services:
- Access to up-to-date, online job listings for the South Central region
- One-on-one assistance with resumé development, cover letters and interview skills
- Group workshops for resume development
- Help identifying related job skills and employment opportunities
- Computer and internet access for job searches and resumé preparation
- Access to our resource library, which includes resumé templates, writing guides, information to help you prepare for job interviews, and job listings

Credentials Assessment
What is a Credential Assessment?
If you are a newcomer with training from another country, you should have your job credentials assessed when you arrive in Canada. This will help you find work in or related to your field. A Credentials Assessment will give you a plan to follow and help you achieve your goals in Canada.
South Central Settlement & Employment Services works closely with both the Academic and the Trades Credentials departments.
If you are a newcomer to Canada with skills or previous experience in a profession or trade, our office can help you with the process of Credentials Assessments.
Academic Credentials Assessment Service (Professions)
The Academic Credentials Report (ACR) allows employers, educational institutions, and regulatory bodies to better understand the value of your education and training.
To be eligible for a free assessment, you must:
- have received a secondary or post-secondary education outside of Canada
- be living in Manitoba as a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen
Following the assessment and processing period, an Academic Credentials Report will be mailed to you.

The Manitoba Apprenticeship Branch offers quality, post secondary training in over 50 trades.
As an apprentice you will:
- work towards a Certificate of Qualification in your trade
- earn an income
- learn through on-the-job work experience and technical training
You may also complete a Trade Qualifications Examination to find out if your previous training and/or experience in your trade will be recognized here in Manitoba.
In Manitoba, some trades require a special license in order to work in that field. These trades are regulated through the Manitoba Apprenticeship Branch. The Apprenticeship Branch sets standards for practice and ensures that anyone providing a service in a certified trade is qualified and has a license to do so.
